We discovered that there is a great museum on the University of Nebraska campus, so we checked it out. The museum has many skeletons that have been assembled with actual fossils of elephants, mammoths, dinosaurs, and many other animals. We did not know this fact, but it seems that Nebraska has been quite the hotbed for fossil excavation.....whole fossil sets of elephants, mammoths, dinosaurs, and many other prehistoric animals have been discovered in Nebraska. So, since the fossils were found in Nebraska, the assembled animals are in the Nebraska State Museum, which is on the University of Nebraska campus. You can see some of the animals at this link and on other pages linked to this page:

The front of the museum is adorned with an amazing sculpture of a life-size mammoth. I am standing under its foot to give a sense of the size of this animal. In the skeleton photos, I am also in the picture showing the skeleton with which the sculpture matches up.
